In 1982, the rock group Option 30 formed with Tim, bassist Jim Nordstrom, drummer Todd Nero, and keyboardist/vocalist Trent Reznor (yes, that Trent Reznor). The group played cover tunes but also played a number of originals penned by Tim. Trent left the band 1984 and Tim led the group as a power trio until 1985. The group recorded the bulk of this live album at the PNA club in downtown Meadville PA in august of that same year.

In adition to the origional PNA recordings, this Timothy K. Smith discography edition of Option 30 Live comes with five never before released live recordings including a cover of I Will Follow by U2, and an extended cover of Roxanne by The Police.
